Becoming a Referee


We’re thrilled you are interested in our program, and would love to have you join our growing pool of qualified, professional referees. We have a variety of referees from all ages, levels, and abilities and welcome any that are interested in the program.

New referees

  1. You must be Certified through Minnesota SRC

    1. The link below is an outline from the MN State SRC site

    2. Online process

      • Sign up for a new user account

      • Pay fees

      • Take the online courses - about 6-7 hours total, can be taken over several days

      • Average 20 minutes each

      • Can take the quiz at end unlimited number of times

    3. After complete online coursework

      1. Equipment needs

        • Order a referee uniform kit

          • Includes yellow shirt, socks, shorts, cards, scoresheet

        • Need watch with stop watch – NO PHONES

        • Whistle

      2. Sign up for certification clinic

        • Locations all over metro area

        • Duration is 6-8 hours

      3. Take online test after attend certification class

        • Takes about an hour, can retake unlimited times

  2. Becoming a referee at CCU – after being certified with Minnesota SRC

    1. Register with Gameofficials.net

      • CC United uses GameOfficials.net as its referee assignment and payment tool.  All assignments will go through GameOfficials.net for all Competitive and Recreational games. Referees enter availability as well as accept or decline games online. 

    2. Register as an official on the CC United website If you are a current or former CC United player, you will not need to create a new account.  You can sign in and register with your existing email address and password.

  3. Activities to perform before can sign-up for games

    1. Complete an MYSA Background check every year     ***Only if you are 18 years of age and older

    2. Go to CCU game officials and register to self-assign games

    3. In order to get paid:

      • Complete a W9 form and mail to CCU, PO Box 1002, Chanhassen, MN 55317.

      • In Game Officials you need to update 1099 portal from the “my payments” option on the left side

    4. Complete the Concussion Training and submit a certificate of completion via email to  . You only need to do this once every three years.

The training takes approximately 45 minutes to complete and while the training can be paused; if you exit out of the training your progress will not be saved. Please make sure to have your pop-up blocker off as upon completion of the training a certificate will be presented. The CDC website does not have any way to track those that have completed the training. Please save a copy of the certificate for your records in addition to forwarding a copy to CC United Soccer Club.

  

Returning referees

  1. You must be Re-Certified through Minnesota SRC

    1. Online process

      • Pay fees

      • Take the online courses - about 3-4 hours total, can be taken over several days

      • Average 20 minutes each

      • Can take the quiz at end unlimited number of times

    2. After complete online coursework

      1. Sign up for Re-Certification clinic

        • Locations all over metro area

        • Duration 3-4 hours

      2. Take online test after attend certification class

        • Takes about an hour, can retake unlimited times

  2. Activities to perform before can sign-up for games

    1. Complete an MYSA Background check every year     ***Only if you are 18 years of age and older
