REC GOALKEEPER CLINICS-2013

Here is the rundown on Rec Goalkeeper Clinics.

Who are the goalkeeper sessions for?

We have sessions broken into three groups:
  • PreK-1st Grade
  • 2nd and 3rd Grade
  • 4th-7th Grade

You don’t have to be a goalkeeper to attend the sessions.  If you are curious about the position, or just looking for more time with a soccer ball, we are ready for you.

When are the sessions?

Why are their two sessions each week?

If you want to attend the goalkeeper session instead of the U9 Prep or Tons of Touches, you can.  Or you can still attend the U9 Prep or Tons of Touches AND the goalkeeper clinic.

For the 4th through 7th grade sessions we are running the same training as the young competitive keepers.  The two dates give you two chances to fit the training into busy schedules.  It is the same training both days, so no need to make both sessions.  But you still can.

Do the players need goalkeeper gloves?

It can’t hurt, but definitely isn’t required.

If you do want to get a pair of gloves they range in cost from $10 to well over $200.  At this young of an age players will not get any real benefit from expensive gloves.  At the same time, in the $10-$20 range, there are some very poorly made gloves out there.  Here are some good options in the lower price range.

For older players that are really interested in goalkeeping.  Here are some higher quality gloves that still won’t break the bank.

If you have any questions about a specific glove, feel free to contact me.  There are literally hundreds of gloves and I haven’t tried them all.  But I have either personally worn, or talked to someone who has worn, a lot of the gloves out there.

Why are we having keeper clinics for players that don’t even have keepers in their games?

Games with larger goals and keepers are just around the corner.  It is also possible that a player that isn’t exactly loving playing as a traditional field player may find they love being a goalkeeper.

What if I have other questions?
